Too Noisy Fish is breaking new boundaries. The pianotrio with double bass and drums explores in total freedom any style or inspiration: jazz, film, classic, ambient, experimental or rock. TNF, being also the rhythm section of the slightly deranged Belgian big band Flat Earth Society, is now completely on the loose. They chose The Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati, California to record their second CD ’Fight Eat Sleep’, with Oz Fritz pushing the buttons. Oz Fritz is best known for his work as a producer for Tom Waits, but has also been working with Bill Laswell, John Zorn, Herbie Hancock, Ornette Coleman, Iggy Pop, Bob Marley and many others. The result is a no bullshit recording straight to tape: no edits, no overdubs. The CD will be released in September 2013 and the trio is now willing and able, eager to play.
first CD ‘Fast Easy Sick’ from 2011 got raving reviews as well as their live-act. ”From the onset, when the leader’s graceful intro is interrupted with brash, abrasive drumstrokes, the listener knows they’re in for a rowdy ride, one redeemed for its many creative and intelligent moments that serve to smooth the rougher bumps. The trio’s mercurial musical moodswings range from placid to frenetic, manic to methodical. Vandenberghe, a consummate virtuoso, never lets his ‘fingerisms’ overwhelm his ideas and the group interplay is excellent.”
Too Noisy Fish are: -Peter Vandenberghe: piano/composities (Flat Earth Society, X-Legged Sally, Univers Zero, Caca, Monsoon) -Kristof Roseeuw: contrabas (Flat Earth Society, RadioKUKAorkest, Fukkeduk, Spectra ensemble) -Teun Verbruggen: drums (Flat Earth Society, Jef Neve, Toots Thielemans, Otin Spake, Gowk, VVG Trio, Christian Mendoza Group) His reaction after hearing the first cd: “I got your cd a couple of days ago and have been enjoying it, thank-you! The music is adventurous, courageous, humorous at times and all kinds of other things, I love it! It has a very good sound to it also. I’m looking forward to hearing your new material.” On top of that Oz Fritz has asked Tom Waits to sing a track on the new album.
